Review:
The first wave of Zoids in the Genesis line consisted mostly of Zoids that had been previously released but in dramatic new color schemes. Zabat was among the lucky few to get the Genesis treatment and the color choices are quite the contrast from the original. The use of light gray and blue works well against the darker tones and the orange eye-piece looks good. The result is a scheme that feels more subdued and much less wicked. Zabat does make a few small appearances towards the end of the Zoids Genesis anime.

Zabat is unlike most Zoids in that the kit itself is not actually motorized. Instead Zabat carries a small bomb (with wheels) attached to its underside. The bomb has a pull-back motor and will race forward when released. You can power Zabat's movement with the bomb, simply leave it attached and pull Zabat back, then the Zoid will move forward and when you're ready to release the bomb simply push the two tabs on Zabat's back together and the bomb will be released.

Overall I was very pleased to see Tomy choose a Zoid that has never been recolored for inclusion in the Genesis line. Zabat's new color scheme gives this Zoid a breath of fresh air and make it feel almost like a new kit altogether.
