Review: Rayse Tiger was the second Republic/ZOITEC Zoid released in 2004. Rayse Tiger is also part of the new Battle Story that takes place 121 years after the conclusion of the original Battle Story. In the new story the war between the Helic Republic and Neo-Zenevas Empire has ended, two competing companies, ZOITEC and Zi-Arms, fight to obtain Zoid cores from 3 ancient tiger type Zoids. Rayse Tiger is a very unique Zoid and incorporates technology that has never-before been included with a Zoid. His main feature is his LED lights and Glow-in-the-dark parts. In the Battle Story Rayse Tiger can absorb energy through these parts. It's also interesting to note that several differences can be seen between the Rayse Tiger shown on the box and the finished product. The one depicted on the box does not have the port on his back and the section of his neck where the head attaches is shown with two holes instead of one. Aside from this Rayse Tiger also has several other features. His neck and head can be shifted up and down (although I'm not really sure why), he can be equipped with Whitz Wolf's weapons, and he also features a port on his back which allows him to combine with Ptera Rayse, a Blox Zoid which was only sold with the Zoids VS, III video game in Japan. Included with Rayse Tiger is a special DVD which consists of a CGI animated Whitz Tiger, Dekalt Dragon, and Rayse Tiger facing off. It also contains an overview of each Zoid and lists their technical data but it's all in Japanese. Luckily the DVD is not region locked and can by played on any standard DVD player. Overall Rayse Tiger is an amazing Zoid. He was very difficult to build but I always enjoy a challenge. He's got a lot of features but doesn't feel "gimmicky" like some Zoids. His design is very streamlined, my only complaint is that he doesn't have more weapons, but as you know I love overgunned Zoids. Rating: |
